Living is Learning was founded by Lindsay Walton, an Experiential Educator, mentor, and presenter with over twenty years of experience providing hands-on programming and professional development in the formal and alternative education realms.
What is Experiential Learning?
Experiential learning refers to the practice of being hands-on, in motion, and engaged directly with the learning opportunity. When humans have the opportunity to learn by doing, building knowledge and skills within natural contexts where they are used, both adults and youth consistently report:
- Lower anxiety, decreased stress, improved physical and mental health, and increased enjoyment of life
- Improved team and community skills including communication, initiative, dedication to excellence, and problem-solving
- Increased competence, increased confidence, and improved recognition of personal strengths and areas for growth
